Colorful Modern Wedding at Long View Gallery in Washington, DC: Nick and Elizabeth
Fall is always a busy season for weddings in the Washington, DC area. The cooler temperatures and change of season help set the tone for intimate gatherings. I was looking forward to Nick and Elizabeth’s fall wedding ever since their wedding engagement session the year prior. We met in Washington, DC for photos at the Lincoln Memorial, the DC War Memorial, and one of their favorite breweries. Their playful spirits shined through that day, and I knew we would make some incredible photos together on wedding day.
Long View Gallery proved to be the perfect location for their fall wedding day. This venue is so great for weddings as it’s a blank slate with an industrial feeling, but one that can be transformed in many ways. For their fall wedding day, Nick and Elizabeth chose a gorgeous color palette of jewel tones that was perfect for their modern and moody wedding. Nick and his groomsmen wore classic navy suits. Bridesmaids wore mix and match style black dresses and carried bouquets of brightly colored blooms that really popped against the elegant dresses. Bride Elizabeth wore a modern wedding dress with a high neckline and an open back. Delicate floral lace adorned the back and was matched to her wedding veil, made by her grandmother for a personal touch on wedding day.
Setting the mood for the day, guests entered the wedding ceremony surrounded by warm candlelight and moss for a moody, earthy feeling. A gorgeous ceremony arch of bright florals and candles was the backdrop for Nick and Elizabeth’s vows and guests waved ribbon wands in celebration as the newlyweds recessed down the aisle. In the reception space, a lush floral installation hung over the dance floor while greenery adorned a custom bar. Everywhere the eye could see, featured stunning florals in a variety of jewel tone colors in mix and match ceramic vases. I especially loved the floral vials that acted as escort cards and a keepsake for guests to take home. After dancing the night away, Elizabeth changed into a fun sparkle dress for a nearby afterparty.
